The Wellington Clinic is a dedicated travel clinic dealing with all travellers’ health needs. The Clinic is an approved Yellow Fever Vaccinating Centre, carries a full range of vaccinations and medical kits for travellers, and has blood collecting services onsite. ECG and radiology services are within walking distance.

Guardian Trust House, We are in the same building and beside The Green Man Pub - Willeston St, Central City.
We have our own entrance on Willeston St beside the main building entrance.

Parking is available in the Victoria Street Car Park; Cnr of Victoria & Willeston St - Opposite the Green Man Pub

The Wellington Clinic is open Monday from 9:00am - 8:00pm, Tuesday - Friday from 9:00am - 5:00pm

Dr Jenny Visser
Doctor

BSc, MB ChB, MTrav Med, FRNZCGPs, Travel Doctor Medical Advisor and Travel Medicine Practitioner

Jenny's work experience includes Travel Medicine & General Practitioner work for The Travel Doctor for close to 20 years, after 15 years in General Practice. She is currently a Senior Lecturer and Leader of Travel Medicine Post Graduate studies at University of Otago, Wellington. She has been a volunteer Doctor in Nepal, film crew Doctor in Bougainville, Medical Officer on board RV Tangaroa research vessel for seven summers in Antarctica and Team Doctor/Team Leader on expeditions to Tanzania, Fiji and China.

Jenny has travelled extensively throughout the world including many cycling and trekking trips. In 1990 she and her husband cycled over 20,000km's through Europe, returning to New Zealand via South East Asia. Since then many trips have taken them to the Indian Subcontinent, South America, North America, Australia, The Pacific, Asia and Southern Africa; often on bikes or trekking.

When not dreaming of her next trip, Jenny enjoys mountain biking and orienteering in the hills of Wellington. Over holidays she enjoys camping, tramping and cycling trips in our great NZ outdoors. She is also a Medical Advisor to NZ Land Search & Rescue providing the opportunity to combine her professional skills with her love of the outdoors.

 

Dr Kathryn Leslie
Doctor

MBChB, Dip Obstetrics, DCH, FRNZCGP

Kathryn completed her GP training in 1997, Travel Medicine qualifications in 2001 and is a certified Yellow Fever prescriber. Her work experience includes working in General Practice in both rural and urban settings, working at VUW Student health seeing many International Students (many from developing countries), forensic examinations, all types of medicals and also working in an immigration medical clinic.

She has travelled to many less developed countries in Asia and Central America during the 1990’s, many European countries whilst living in the UK and has more recently taken trips to Asia, North America, Pacific and countries in Europe. Some of her travel has been encouraged by attending International Travel Medicine conferences.

Based in Wellington, Kathryn lives with her family, with whom she enjoys travelling and discovering great places in Aotearoa.

Dr Michelle Wilson
Doctor

MBChB, FRNZCGP, PGDipTravMed

Michelle's experience includes both General Practice and Travel Medicine. She has worked in Whangarei, Wellington, Stirling in Scotland, Bangor in Wales and Atherton in far North Queensland.

Her travel experience includes three months in South East Asia, six months in India and Nepal, three and a half months in South America and Panama, as well as travel in Europe, Tonga and Canada.

Michelle says "I work as a GP in Wellington but have always enjoyed travel and the chance to talk about it. I have worked at The Travel Doctor since 2006, with a break 2011-12 when my husband and I took our three sons (aged 4, 8, 12) to South America travelling through Bolivia and Peru on the way to Panama for a family wedding. We then spent a year on the beautiful Atherton Tablelands of Far North Queensland where I worked as a GP, before returning to Wellington in 2013."

Dr Joanna Joseph

MBChB, PGDipTravMed (Otago 2016)

Joanna trained in Edinburgh and moved to New Zealand in 2001. She was a GP for over fifteen years, before returning to travel medicine and has worked at Travel Doctor Wellington since 2017, where she is an approved Yellow Fever vaccinator. She also works in Clinical Research and Urgent Care.

Joanna’s travels have taken her to Western Europe; North, Central and South America; South East Asia, Australasia, Africa, Antarctica, the Arctic, the Pacific and Europe.

“I’m a keen amateur book reviewer (mostly thrillers), love cats, and enjoy kayaking, snowboarding and caravan trips” – Dr Joanna Joseph.

Shaun Counsell
Doctor

Shaun has work experience in Urgent Care, as a GP and is a Senior Lecturer at Otago University in Tropical Infectious Diseases and Wilderness/Expedition Medicine.

His travel experience includes Asia, Peru, Tanzania, Pacific, Europe and North America.

Dr Greg Brown

Greg is an ex Navy GP.

His travel experience includes Africa, the Middle East, PNG and lots of oceans and sundry port towns around the world.

He plays four instruments and is married with three children.

Marlene Rabitsch
Registered Nurse

General Obstetrics Nurse Diploma in Oncology (UK) Cert in Travel Medicine

Marlene’s work experience includes 15+ years in Oncology Nursing, 12 years as a Practice Nurse at a GP clinic and 11 years as a Travel Nurse.

Her travels have taken her to Europe, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Egypt, Tunisia, Bolivia, Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Tanzania.

Marlene enjoys gardening, movies, current affairs, cooking and dining out with friends.

Sue Chambers-Ross

Sue’s work experience includes 21 years as a Nursing Officer in the NZ Army, 15 years in Travel Medicine, and 12 years as an Operating Nurse.

She has travelled the UK, Europe, Middle East, Indian subcontinent, North America, South East Asia and Pacific.

Rachel Bluck

Rachel is the Administration Manager for Travel Doctor.

Her travel experience includes South East Asia; Africa; North, Central and South America; Europe and the Pacific.

Rachel enjoys travel and being a Mum.

 

Beth Williams
Receptionists

Beth has seven years customer service and retail experience, and three years experience in reception and administration.

Her travel experience includes the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and the USA.

Ruby Soper
Receptionists

Ruby has spent the last three years working at Mecca.

Her travel experience includes Europe, Asia, Mexico, United States, Vanuatu, PNG, New Caledonia, Rarotonga and Fiji.

She lived in Papua New Guinea at a young age and then moved to Vanuatu, where she grew up. Ruby has also spent time as a local in Spain and also South Dakota, both of which she says were "incredible experiences". She looks forward to more travel once she has completed her degree, most likely to Asia.
